Lemelson-MIT Excite Award
The Excite Award is given annually to up to 25 K-12 and postsecondary educators across the United States in recognition of their exemplary work facilitating project-based programs in their schools. Ideal Excite Award recipients are change makers in their local communities. They impact the lives of their students by empowering them to develop an inventor's mindset that includes risk taking, learning from failure, comfort with ambiguity, and persistence.
Excite Award recipients will receive a fellowship and all expenses paid professional development opportunity at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This event will take place July 12, 2021-July 14, 2021. Educators will experience invention education, hear from expert educators and MIT faculty about facilitating invention education, and network with a cohort of the country's top educators.
Excite Award recipients will have the opportunity to continue their participation with the Lemelson-MIT Program's Partners in Invention Education community throughout the school year. Excite Award recipients who are high school STEM teachers will be given preference in the highly competitive national grants initiative, InvenTeams (lemelson.mit.edu/InvenTeams), should they chose to apply.
