Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam® Grant
The InvenTeam initiative, created by the Lemelson-MIT Program, offers an unparalleled opportunity for high school students to cultivate their creativity and experience invention. InvenTeams are teams of high school students, educators, and mentors which receive grants up to $10,000 to invent technological solutions to real-world problems. Each InvenTeam chooses its own problem to solve. The application process occurs in two stages.
Stage 1: Educators apply on behalf of their team and organization to participate. Up to 35 educators will be selected as finalists in this stage and will receive feedback on their invention project proposal, access to webinars, and expert mentorship from the Lemelson-MIT Program Fellows in the spring and summer of 2021. Only applicants selected as finalists in 2021 will be invited to submit a final application for the 2021-2022 school year.
Stage 2: Final Application (by invitation only) will be due September 2021. The final application is completed by the team of students with oversight and support from the educator.
